Social Actors in the Local Management of the Risk of Disaster in Valle de Chalco Solidaridad, State of Mexico
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article examines the notion of “local disaster risk management” through the case of the actions of the local social actors during the flood caused by the rupture of the Canal de la Compañía in 2010, which affected several neighborhoods near this channel in the Valle de Chalco Solidaridad, municipality in the State of Mexico. The local management of the risk of disaster is a proposal that implies the intervention of local social actors in preventive activities towards the reduction of the risk. From this perspective actions taken by the parish of San Isidro are reviewed.
