Information and Communication Technology in the Teaching of Spatial Thinking in Social Sciences

Abstract

In the last two decades, social sciences have experienced a spatial change that consists in the integration of a spatial dimension that works explicitly and actively in the construction and reformulation of the methodological and the theoretical. In this context, this article discusses how Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and geospatial technology have supported the development of spatial thinking in the teaching- learning process of social sciences. We will make a short revision about the main geospatial technology and the conclusion will be a series of reflections about the pedagogical challenges within the process of teaching-learning about spatial thinking in social sciences’ majors.
