Abstract

For a long time, the house as a category of study was considered a private area. This way of thinking has been challenged by academic literature that focuses on housework even if it is not compensated. Here we want to analyze the home as a center of intimate work, which intersects with affection and complex forms of exploitation, taking into consideration the “old” and “new” forms that has adopted domestic work and paid care. Based on ethnographic work, the paper makes visible the importance of the domestic sphere.
