Abstract



Endogenous Development (ED) focuses on territorial proximity and looks for a change from the inside out and the bottom up. This work focuses on the importance of cacahuacintle corn in Santa María Nativitas, State of Mexico. The study highlights the multidimensional elements contributing to ED in corn. Moreover, it shows the importance of cacahuacintle’s cultural roots and how farmers use this information in their production strategies. This has allowed them to preserve one important species of corn in the Toluca Valley.
